Knife Crime & Serious Violence Training for School and Academy Staff

Serious youth violence is recognised in KCSIE as a key safeguarding thematic topic and is a key area of both police activity and media coverage. This course examines the drivers into criminality, particularly knife crime and gang association, and explores the supportive role schools and academies can play in preventing and deterring children and young people's involvement.

What is covered in this course?

  • the 4 key drivers of serious youth criminal activity
  • the vulnerabilities and risk factors that can lead to criminal exploitation, including gang association and 'county lines' activity
  • the process of recruitment
  • the four main stages of the grooming process: how children & young people are targeted, what they experience, how they are hooked and trapped by perpetrators
  • weapon offences
  • the key safeguarding elements applicable to all educational settings
  • contextual safeguarding and the importance of early intervention
  • early intervention and preventative work
  • the range of powers which protect teachers as they tackle problematic behaviours

Our training is applicable to the following educational settings: Primary Schools, Primary Academies, Secondary Schools, Secondary Academies, Public Schools, Free Schools, Pupil Referral Units, SEND Schools and other post 16 settings.

To fulfil the latest HM Government statutory guidance, training is advised for the following roles:

  • All existing staff – Teachers, LSAs, HLTAs, TAs, Support Staff
  • All new recruits in roles named above as part of the induction process
  • Governance
  • Volunteers

Our system requires no complicated setup. From the Admin Dashboard simply copy and send an invitation email to your staff with the login details for your school or academy. Once your staff commence training, all progress, results and CPD certificates are presented in the Admin Dashboard as evidence of training.

Staff complete a course via any PC, Mac, Smartphone or Tablet. Each course is made up of an engaging multimedia presentation created using 3D animation, comprehensive course notes and a fully tracked multiple-choice assessment. On completion, staff can view and print their CPD accredited certificate.

All courses are kept up-to-date with any changes in legislation or policy ensuring practice in your school or academy is compliant with current requirements.
